Ten GREATs For A Peaceful Life

Dear Members
I am sure you will find this interesting.
P.Aravind
Someone has written these beautiful words. Must read and try to understand the deep meaning of it. They are like the ten commandments to follow in life all the time.

1] Prayer is not a "spare wheel" that you pull out when in trouble, but it is a "steering wheel" that directs the right path throughout.

2] So a Car's WINDSHIELD is so large & the Rear view Mirror is so small? Because our PAST is not as important as our FUTURE. So, Look Ahead and Move on.

3] Friendship is like a BOOK. It takes few seconds to burn, but it takes years to write.

4] All things in life are temporary. If going well, enjoy it, they will not last forever. If going wrong, don't worry, they can't last long either.
5] Old Friends are Gold! New Friends are Diamond! If you get a Diamond, don't forget the Gold! Because to hold a Diamond, you always need a Base of Gold!

6] Often when we lose hope and think this is the end, GOD smiles from above and says, "Relax, sweetheart, it's just a bend, not the end!

7] When GOD solves your problems, you have faith in HIS abilities; when GOD doesn't solve your problems HE has faith in your abilities.

8] A blind person asked St. Anthony: "Can there be anything worse than losing eye sight?" He replied: "Yes, losing your vision!"

9] When you pray for others, God listens to you and blesses them, and sometimes, when you are safe and happy, remember that someone has prayed for you.

10] WORRYING does not take away tomorrow's TROUBLES, it takes away today's PEACE.

If you really enjoy this, please pass to others. It may brighten someone's day...

Truth about white bread

Subject: Truth about white bread

The Truth About White Bread

We know that there are many people round the world
who enjoy eating white bread. But today, we'd like
to give you some facts that may shock and surprise
you. It's not only that white bread isn't good for
your health, it can actually be a real danger to your
health!

The Swiss government has been aware of the
dangers of eating white bread for decades and
in order to get its populace to stop eating it,
Switzerland has placed a tax on the purchase
of white bread. The tax money is given to bakers
to reduce the price of whole wheat bread to
encourage people to switch.

The Canadian government passed a law prohibiting
the "enrichment" of white bread with synthetic
vitamins. Bread must contain the original vitamins
found in the grain, not imitations .

Essentially, white bread is dead bread. Frequently,
consumers are not told the truth about this and
so called "enriched" flour.

Why is the color of white bread so white when
the flour taken from wheat is not?

It's because the flour used to make white bread is
chemically bleached, just like you bleach your
clothes. When you are eating white bread, you
are also eating residual chemical bleach .
Flour mills use different chemical bleaches,
all of which are pretty bad.

Here are a few of them: Oxide of nitrogen,
chlorine, chloride, nitrosyl and benzoyl peroxide
mixed with various chemical salts.

One bleaching agent, chloride oxide, combined
with whatever proteins are still left in the
flour, produces alloxan. Alloxon is a poison
and has been used to produce diabetes in
laboratory animals.

Chlorine oxide destroys the
vital wheat germ oil. It will
also shorten the flour's shelf life.

Good Nutrition: You won't find it In white
bread In the process of making flour
white, half of the good unsaturated fatty
acids, that are high in food value, are lost
in the milling process alone, and virtually
all the vitamin E is lost with the removal of
wheat germ and bran.

As a result, the remaining flour in the white
bread you buy, contains only poor quality
proteins and fattening starch. But that is
not the whole story as to the loss of nutrients.

Here are some other statistics about the
huge loss of nutrients when white bread is made:

· About 50% of all calcium is lost

· 70% of phosphorus

· 80% of iron

· 98% of  magnesium

· 75% of manganese

· 50% of potassium and

· 65% of of copper is destroyed when white
bread is made.

· 80% of thiamin, 60% of riboflavin, 75% of
niacin, 50% of pantothenic acid.

· About 50% of Pyridoxine is also lost.

Scientific study has confirmed what the
swiss have known for years these horrific
numbers are the results of a study run by
the university of california, college of
agriculture. It is obvious, from what we
have learned, that white bread should be avoided.

Whole wheat, rye and grain breads made with
whole wheat flour are a better way.

It is a good idea to always
read the labels and never
buy foods that contain
artificial flavors, colors,
bleached flour, preservatives,
hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils.

RBI restricts ATM transaction from Nov. 1. Do's and Don'ts

Many people have a habit of withdrawing small amounts of money from the ATM to curb spending tendencies, but often end up with a high frequency of withdrawals. There are some others who are reluctant to use net banking or mobile banking facilities and depend on ATMs for checking account balance. If you happen to fall into any of these categories, it's time to change your habit for good as RBI has issued new rules and guidelines limiting the number of times you use your ATM in a month. The new ATM transaction rules issued by the Reserve Bank of India is applicable to all ATM transactions including withdrawing cash, checking account balance or getting a mini account statement.

New RBI ATM Transaction Rules:
According to the new RBI guidelines that come into effect from 1st November 2014, savings bank account holders in metropolitan cities would be allowed only three transactions from ATMs of other banks and five from the same bank in a month. For any ATM transaction above the stipulated limit, a transaction fee of Rs. 20 would be charged to the account holder. The new transaction fee is applicable only for people living in six metropolitan cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata. People living in smaller towns and other centers would continue to enjoy five free monthly transactions per month from the ATM of other banks and the charges for them include Rs.20 for each cash withdrawal and Rs 9 for non-cash transactions. Account holders of zero balance and other no-frills accounts in non metros are exempted from such transaction charges as of now.

What new Rules Mean for Bank Customers:
The transaction fee has been increased from the earlier limit of Rs. 15 and the number of free transactions decreased from five to three for ATMs of other banks. Another important change in the new RBI guideline policy for ATM transaction fee is the fact that all ATM transactions including cash withdrawal, balance enquiry and changing of PIN number etc would be considered as an ATM transaction unlike in the past when balance enquiry was not considered a transaction as such!

A Case for Capping ATM Transaction Limit:
While capping the charges for ATM usage may be an unpopular decision taken by the Reserve Bank of India, the limit in free transactions is justified by the apex body considering high expenses for managing ATMs across the country. With an increasing number of robbery attempts on various ATMs especially in isolated areas and in semi urban and rural areas, the banks have been forced to shell out funds to install a security mechanism apart from using CCTVs and manual security guards wherever
possible. With the Reserve Bank of India laying down strict security guidelines not to leave any ATM unmanned or without security cameras and other measures, banks are facing higher overheads to manage the ATMs.The inter banking fee charged by various banks through ATM services will also increase since banks are using the fee as an incentive to install more number of ATM machines. While all the above reasons have played their role in the decision to some extent the game clincher has been Reserve Bank of India's long term plan to promote the use of e-transfers and cashless transactions as much as possible to avoid the use of any black money in the system. The rise in ATM transaction fee is largely seen by financial experts as a sum culmination of all of the above factors.

Tips to bypass ATM Usage Limit:
Since the new RBI rules on ATM transaction limits are likely to affect a vast majority of people, here are some tips individual account holders can
use to avoid the fee hike.
    * Avoid cash transactions whenever possible:
    * If you are one of those individuals using cash transactions for every purchase and other financial transactions, it is time to explore other ways. The use of electronic funds transfer, credit and debit cards, cheques and demand drafts must be explored for financial transactions than using cash all the time.
    * Change the habit of withdrawing smaller amounts:
    * With an increase in the ATM transaction fee make sure you avoid withdrawing small multiple amounts.
    * Visit bank branch for cash withdrawals:
    * If withdrawing large amount of cash, you are better off visiting the bank branch rather than the ATM. Visiting the bank branch may be slightly inconvenient,  but it is a good idea to visit the bank branch to avoid the ATM transaction fee. Having said that, if this type of transaction happens once in a while, no harm in paying the charge than waiting for your turn at the bank, if that is indeed the case.

SCCG Programme
 Sat 13 Sept 2014 at 0530PM
Venue : Usual Place
There will be Lecture/Discussion on "VEDIC MATHMATICS"
BY  Mrs Kavita Bhasein

             Example: Simple Calculation
605 x 504 = ?
The nearest base for the above two numbers are 500.So we fix this 500 as our base. Now,see that the above both numbers are greater than the base
How much deficient are are the above numbers are from base ?
605 -500 = +105
504 -500 = +004
Next,align as follows,
605  + 105
504  + 004
----------------
L.H.S 609  |  ( + 420) R.H.S  ---> [the RHS is got by adding diagonally on any one side ,the LHS is the result of multiplying the deficiencies .]
(609 /2) | (+420) since we have fixed base 500 and 500 is half of 1000 .i.e;1000/2 = 500.
304.5 +  420
304.5 | 420
Now see that the L.H.S has a decimal point ,so carry out that half to the R.H.S side from L.H.S .Now R..H.S side becomes 420 +500 =920
304 | 920

Therefore ,605 x 504 = 304920

What is RuPay Card?

MUMBAI: RuPay cardholders will have dual insurance covers, with the
government roping in the Life Insurance Corporation of India a day before
unveiling its financial inclusion programme Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana.
LIC, the country's largest financial institution, will offer a life cover of
Rs 30,000 while HDFCErgo will provide a Rs 1-lakh personal accident cover
to RuPay cardholders. (The Economic Times)
Recent developments saw Government passing on instructions to state
owned banks to issue RuPay debit cards to their customers. This looks
like a clear indication to promote these cards. But, what exactly is this
RuPay card and how does it function? Let's look into it now. What is it?
RuPay is a combination of two words – Rupee and Payment. RuPay Card
is an Indian version of credit/debit card. It is very similar to international
cards such as Visa/Master.

Who initiated it?
National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) initiated the launch of RuPay
card in India. It was done with the intention of integration of payment
systems in the country. It has also tied up with Discover Financial Services
 firm for promoting this.

How will it work?
RuPay debit cards are similar any other debit cards that you might hold now.
You can access them in the 1.45 lakh ATMs and 8.75 lakh POS terminals
across the country. It will also be accepted on 10,000 e-commerce websites.
All major public sector banks, including SBI, have started issuing these
cards to all their customers. The card also comes with a high end technology
chip named EMV (Europay, Master Card and Visa) especially for high end
transactions. It also has an embedded micro processor circuit with information
 about the card holder.

What are the Benefits of RuPay card?
Lower transaction cost – International transactions lead to higher transaction
costs. Such costs can be reduced by using RuPay card since processing will
be done within the country. Also, transactions will be faster.

Sms alerts – Users will get alerts for every transaction made through this card.

Reduced processing fees – Processing fees for RuPay card compared with
regular debit/credit cards will be considerably lower.

RBI New Circular on Deposits with Co-op Banks

Customers With Over Rs 1L In Failed Banks Will Bear The Brunt During Takeovers

In a bid to encourage strong banks take over ailing co-operative banks, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has said that large depositors in failed cooperatives must now sacrifice a portion of their deposits in proportion to the deposit erosion. This is to ensure that other lenders can acquire the failed bank without incurring any losses. Until now, a bank acquiring a cooperative had to pump in funds if the failed bank’s assets could not cover at least 65% of its total deposits.

In its latest circular, the RBI has said that under the new guidelines, the acquiring bank should not incur any loss arising out of the said merger or transfer of assets and liabilities of cooperative banks. “Big depositors holding deposits in excess of Rs 1 lakh each will be required to sacrifice in proportion to the deposit erosion of the target bank,” the circular said.

At present, all bank deposits are covered up to Rs 1 lakh by the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC) — an arm of the RBI. DICGC receives its funds from premium collected from all banks (10 paise for every Rs 100 of deposits). A bulk of the premium comes from commercial banks, but most of the funds are consumed by claims in respect of cooperative banks. The deposit insurance fund stood at Rs 36,120 crore as of March 2013, which was enough to cover 1.7% of insured bank deposits (up to Rs 1 lakh).

“With a view to ensuring that the process of consolidation by way of non-disruptive exit of weak entities by a scheme of transfer of assets and liabilities of UCBs (urban cooperative banks) to commercial banks is undertaken in a transparent manner without affecting the financial health of the acquiring entities and the banking system as a whole, it has been decided to modify the existing guidelines for transfer of assets and liabilities of UCBs to commercial banks,” RBI said in the circular.

During the year 2012-13, DICGC settled aggregate claims for nearly Rs 200 crore in respect of 63 co-operative banks. The corporation has made provisions of over Rs 1,000 crore towards the estimated claim liability in respect of depositors of 195 banks, which are under amalgamationliquidation and whose licenceapplication to carry on banking business has been cancelled.
